BROOKLYN BUREAU:
City Limits’ Brooklyn Bureau is an independent website. However, fully integrated into City Limits’ main news site, magazine and content sharing partnerships. City Limits received a $100,000 capacity building grant from the the Brooklyn Community Foundation and the Knight Foundation to launch the Brooklyn News Bureau project.
The Brooklyn Bureau will be:
Dedicated to providing our overall readership with investigative journalism on Brooklyn’s under served communities. And is part of the Knight Foundation’s national effort to encourage community foundations to support news and information projects that inform and engage residents.
On Thursday, February 16th City Limits officially launched the Brooklyn Bureau website at a mixer event held at the Brooklyn Historical Society. The event was attended by more than 250 community leaders who came to celebrate City Limits’ new investigative platform. At the event, Brooklyn Borough President - Marty Markowitz hailed City Limits for its’ work in bringing an investigative news outlet to New York City’s largest borough.
City Limits’ sponsorship partners were - The Brooklyn Historical Society, ICPH and Berkeley College. The event was held as part of the global series Social Media Week.
